This policy covers House of Figs Functional Nutrition (houseoffigs.org) and the Fig·atry app (figatry.com) — one company, one set of practices, in plain language. If a legal term shows up, we've tried to explain it in the sentence right next to it.

1. What we collect

We only collect what helps us actually help you. Depending on how you interact with House of Figs, that can include:

  • Contact information — your name, email, and phone number, when you take the color quiz, book a consultation, or reach out through the site.
  • Your story — what you tell us on the intake form and, if you continue into The Rooted Beginning, the fuller Going Deeper form: your chief complaint and goals, your color-quiz answers, and details about digestion, energy, cycles, sleep, movement, and daily rhythms. This is what lets a plan be built around your actual life instead of a template.
  • Fig·atry app data — your daily logs (meals, movement, mood, sleep), your quiz profile, and, only if you choose to connect them, Apple Health data or ethnic/ancestry background. That last one exists because some lab ranges and nutrition guidance differ meaningfully by ancestry, and using it well requires you to opt in on purpose — it is never assumed or inferred.
  • Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card details ourselves.
  • Site usage — basic analytics through Google Analytics (pages visited, general location, device type) so we understand what's useful and what isn't.

2. How we use it

In short: to build your plan, to talk with you about it, and to run the business behind that work. More specifically:

  • Reading your story before every conversation, so the conversation starts there instead of at a script.
  • Building and adjusting your personalized nutrition plan, and delivering it to you by email, in print, and inside Fig·atry.
  • Sending the handful of emails tied to where you are in the process — a follow-up after your consult, your plan when it's ready, a weekly note during a coached month — and, if you've said yes to it, occasional updates from The Ripening.
  • Processing payment for paid offerings through Stripe.
  • Understanding, in the aggregate, how people use the site and the app, so we can make both better.

We do not use your health information to advertise to you, and we do not sell your information to anyone, ever.

3. Who sees it

Bethany reads what you share because that's the entire premise of this work — a plan built from your real story. Beyond her, a short list of services help run House of Figs and Fig·atry, each only touching what it needs to do its job:

  • Google / Firebase — hosts our data securely and powers sign-in for the admin dashboard.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — helps draft the language of your 30-day plan from the facts Bethany enters. Every draft is reviewed and approved by Bethany, line by line, before it ever reaches you — nothing goes out unread.
  • Stripe — processes payment for paid offerings.
  • Calendly — schedules consultations and sessions.
  • MailerLite — sends the newsletter, only to people who've subscribed to it.
  • Google Workspace (Gmail) — sends the transactional emails described above.

Each of these processes information on our behalf, under its own privacy and security commitments — none of them get to use your information for their own purposes. We do not share your information with anyone else, and we never sell it.

The one exception, common to any business: if the law requires it (a valid subpoena or court order, for instance), or in the rare case we needed to protect someone's safety.

4. A note on health information

House of Figs is a functional nutrition and coaching practice, not a medical provider. We are not a "covered entity" under HIPAA, the U.S. law that governs medical records at doctors' offices and hospitals — but we hold your health information to that same standard of care anyway, because it's the right way to handle it, not just the required one.

Practically, that means: your health information is used only to build and adjust your plan and to talk with you about it. It's visible to Bethany, stored securely, and never used for marketing or shared with anyone outside the short list above. If anything in your story suggests you should see a doctor before we go further, we'll say so plainly and pause there — see the health disclaimer in the footer of every page for more on how this work relates to medical care.

5. Your choices

  • Access and export. You can ask for a copy of what we hold on you at any time.
  • Correction. If something's out of date or just wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to erase your information, and we will, other than what we're required to keep for tax or legal recordkeeping (basic payment records, for instance).
  • Fig·atry logs stay yours. What you log in the app stays on your device unless you choose to share it with Bethany, and you can export or erase it at any time, right from the app.
  • Unsubscribe any time. Every newsletter and update email has an unsubscribe link. Transactional emails tied to an active plan or session (like "your plan is ready") aren't part of the newsletter and continue as long as that plan is active.

To use any of these, just reach out — see Contact us below.

6. Security & how long we keep things

Your information is stored with Google Firebase, protected by access rules that let only Bethany and her small team sign in to view it, and encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly unbreakable, but we take this seriously and keep access as narrow as the work allows.

We keep your information for as long as you're an active client, and for a reasonable period after in case you return, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Basic payment records are kept as long as the law requires for tax purposes.

7. Children

House of Figs and Fig·atry are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has shared information with us, let us know and we'll remove it.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let active clients know directly.

9. Contact us
